Alex MacLean (16) is stuck between two worlds. At home, his overbearing family runs on rules, punishments, and control. His 22-year-old older brother Nathan hovers like a shadow, his every word a command, while their strict mother, Margaret (47), keeps everything on a tight leash. Their father, David (50), may be an absentee drunk, but his temper and high expectations still loom large, casting a cloud over every move Alex makes. Outside, Alex finds solace with his friends-a rebellious, tight-knit group who challenge his limits, but also pull him deeper into trouble. Jamie (16), Callum (17), Ryan (16), Ellie (17), and the twins Liam and Finn (16) might not be the best influence, but they're the only people who make Alex feel like he's more than just a rule to be followed. When Alex succumbs to the pressure and makes a mistake that puts him at odds with his family and friends, the balance of his world begins to crack. Caught between his controlling parents and his loyal yet reckless friends, Alex must navigate a path where freedom comes at a price, and the cost of disobedience is steep. In a city of tough streets and tighter expectations, Alex will have to decide who he truly is-before his choices define him in ways he can't take back.
