Saber knows that this is his year. As a Career, he has trained since he was 12 in District 2's Elite Academy. He has kills under his belt and is the best trainee in the Academy. District 2 doesn't leave such matters up to fate. He is proud and excited to go to the Games and bring home a win for his District. What he doesn't expect is to be going with his girlfriend.
Lana Cimmons works as a knitter with her family in District 8. She had feared for her elder sister who took tesserae this Reaping. However, nothing could have prepared her for hearing her own name called. She has no special skills, she has never had to live off of the land and the closest that she has ever come to fighting was slapping a boy that got handsy in the market. It just so happens that boy is on the train with her to the Capitol.
In a contest where only one can come out alive and death is entertainment, two teens will struggle to come back home: one for glory, one for simple survival.
