He was murdered by Voldemort. Or on Voldemort's orders, more likely. I doubt Regulus was ever important enough to be killed by Voldemort in person. From what I found out after he died, he got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out. Well, you don't just hand in your resignation to Voldemort. It's a lifetime of service or death. 

My brother also had himself a friend. She was a beautiful woman really. I liked her myself. But after Regulus died, she ran away with Alice and Frank, they came back tortured into insanity. In fact, she despised him and he felt the same way about her. Regulus seemed to hate her as much as she hated him. Their paths constantly intersected, whether it was in school, studying or social gatherings, causing tension and animosity to grow between them. However, fate had its own plans for these two seemingly incompatible individuals.

Thanks for 322 reads guys I'm thinking of doing another update but I'm not sure let me know what you think! What happens when Regulus turns up on the potters doorstep in the dead of night with a bag filled with nothing but his beloved books nearly a year after his brother Sirius had run away from home never to return again. Did James imagine how vulnerable Regulus looked when he first opened the door? Regulus would not let this destroy him, he would rebuild and maybe someday let someone love him. He was putting all his faith in his brother and the people his brother considered to be his family. Hopefully this would be his saving grace, maybe this would be his chance to start again. I made James 18 in this so he is 18 in seventh year and regulus is 17 in 6th year, all the rest of the marauders are also 18 in this I have decided that they start at Hogwarts when they are 12 instead of 11, you will understand later on in the story. Peter is also not in my story as he is a traitor that deserved a most horrible death.
