"The group was stuck together, alone in the wilderness, and they couldn't hold their tongues forever. Their stories that led to this moment still had to be told, their mission completed somehow."

The Imperium has drafted a random selection of Marked citizens to embark on a perilous mission, one that could stave off the destruction of Allarum by the ruins of war. The brutal Shabari have set a spellbound barrier between Allarum and their own homeland, Joriketh, forcing the warring nations into a tense peace. But the barrier cannot stay up forever, and the rulers of Allarum are determined to have it torn down on their terms, not the other way around.

And so we have the motley crew of recruits of all tribes and backgrounds, training at the Militant University for the Marked for the purpose of completing an assault on the border barricade. But the recruits aren't there by choice. They're there by force. What's worse is an eerie reluctance from the University staff to reveal anything too telling about the experimental mission being pressed upon the trainees.

Six such recruits find themselves in an impossible situation. Nowhere is safe, and no one can be trusted. Yet the hearts of humankind are slow to give up, and in the battle of good versus evil, humble, beautiful flowers must prove their strength against the beasts of the field.

Bravery and cowardice contend in a mission that radically shakes the lives of thousands of Allarum's citizens. And when the straits of the country become suddenly more dire, there is nothing to do but fully commit to saving the homeland of millions and don the armor of knighthood.

Legacy of the Forsaken by BlessedThaKid

In a realm where the boundaries between myth and reality blur, five unlikely companions find their destinies intertwined, each carrying the weight of a past that haunts them and a future that calls to them. Leading them is a being unlike any other, forged in the fires of both machine and infernal magic-a part robot, part demon, struggling to balance the cold logic of their mechanical side with the fiery passions of their demonic heritage. Beside them walks a creature once feared as a legend-a mythical beast, born of ancient lore and monstrous strength, now turned good by the power of a heart that refuses to succumb to its dark origins. Their redemption is a fragile thing, constantly tested by the shadows of their past. The group is anchored by two brothers, ordinary in appearance yet extraordinary in spirit. In a world dominated by magic and fantastical beings, these humans stand as a testament to the true power of humanity. Their courage, ingenuity, and unbreakable bond are a beacon of hope, proving that even in a land of wonders, the strength of the human heart and mind can prevail against the mightiest of foes. Finally, there is the folklore monster, a creature of nightmares brought to life, who now seeks a new path. Learning to have a heart in a world that fears them, they struggle to redefine their identity, torn between the monstrous instincts that once defined them and the emerging compassion that could save them. Together, this unlikely band embarks on a journey fraught with peril and discovery, not just of the world around them, but of themselves. As they face trials that would break the strongest of souls, they find that their greatest strength lies not in their individual powers, but in the unity forged by friendship, understanding, and the shared pursuit of a destiny greater than any of them could achieve alone.
IRON HAND (BOOK ONE): FOR THE GREATER GOOD by LowHale
17 parts Ongoing Mature
"Iron Hand" begins in the throes of what most stories would consider the final battle. Buren, leading the "Seekers of the Artifact," utilizes the power of the Gauntlet, an ancient artifact for which he sacrificed his own arm and triumphs over the dark lord, ending the undead scourge plaguing the lands. Without a foe to unify them, the alliance of various racial, religious, and political factions begins to unravel. Reluctant negotiations result in an uneasy peace that leaves many dissatisfied, especially Buren. Now feared and distrusted for the power of the Gauntlet, Buren finds no respite. Dark visions he believes to be warnings from the Gauntlet haunt his dreams. However, his fears are dismissed as the delusions of a war-weary mind. Determined to confront this new threat, Buren follows his visions to an ancient mountain, located within the sacred grounds of the Dryads. The distrustful Dryads deny him access. Out of options, Buren infiltrates the Faith, a fanatical human supremacist religious order, becoming their enforcer, their "Iron Hand." As Buren travels, we delve into the backstories of the "Seekers of the Artifact," witnessing his navigation through a treacherous web of intrigue where trust is a luxury he cannot afford. The realm suffers under a despotic king, with whom Buren must ally on the surface, while secretly plotting his downfall. The situation is further complicated by his arranged marriage to a woman harboring her own dark secrets. Literary heroes sacrifice everything for others, but what happens when saving the world requires sacrifices from everyone? When do the ends cease to justify the means?. What if saving the world involves sacrificing innocents, betraying loved ones, and allying with despised enemies? "Iron Hand" is a story of a man who gave everything to save the world once and is now prepared to do so again, even if it means crossing lines he never thought he would. But will he still be hailed as a hero?
