When the world was created, there were no divine entities looking over the inhabitants. It was an empty Pantheon. So humanity was left alone to their devices, unknown that within their own hands was the power to form the gods.
Gods can only exist to those that have the power to make them. So when the world began, the Pantheon of gods had empty spots in their ranks, with much more room to welcome new divine brethren.
That is where this begins. When humanity began to fill the seats of Gods.

In the Absence of Light
I laugh at you pitiful humans who scurry about this Earth with out a purpose seeking only life, but finding only death. I welcome death. I know what is coming, and the Goddess of Darkness will welcome me into her kingdom when I die. For now, I serve her purpose. I fight wars in her name, and serve as her avatar when needed. When she first came to me, she burned the love out of my heart. Now I find only humor in silly human affections. Love. It's such a short and despicable word. Maybe I could just enjoy fighting until I died, if it wasn't for the city. My city. My own corrupted city that cast me out for saving one of the city's own. The city I spit upon for its treatment of the gods and goddesses chosen people. I swear that one day, I will come back. My name was once Mia Elizabeth Vauthier. I was the princess of a great land where wolves, grander than any other creature shifted freely between animal and man. Where nature and its inhabitants lived together in an uninterrupted harmony. Where the supernatural was not abhorred by those arrogant beings that called themselves humans. Here the supernatural was just as part of nature as the trees and the grass, just as the Goddess had wished it to be. Since the day of my birth, I had been the envy of all the land. I would be powerful I would be great I would be blessed by the Goddess... Or so they had thought. When I was meant to shed my fragile human skin and flow smoothly in the Goddess' blessed creature of the night, I did not. It did not happen when I was sixteen, or seventeen, or eighteen. The shock had been like steaming water, trickling down the naked skin, tearing skin as it went leaving ugly marks that could never be removed. I became stained. The Princess who was an omega and not just an omega, a wolfless omega. An empty shell, a box with no contents, a heart with no blood. Just an empty vessel. I wished so desperately to fill the empty space with something worth more than the haunting echoes of what should have been but that was not my fate. Instead the once beloved princess I was cast aside, thrust into a tower with no promise of a prince to rescue me. Long ago the great gods of this world guided and protected all of the creation, but that all changed when the darkness welled up from below the ground and ravaged to lands, seas and sky. All kingdoms fell. With the last of their light. the gods bestowed their power upon chosen warriors, each blessed with power to destroy the darkness. However, the darkness proved too strong, fueled by the darkness in the hearts of man.
