Star hasn't had a life as terrible as her 'brothers', though life for her has never been easy. After being saved from a group of drunk guys, who tried to rape her, Star toughened up and hoped to meet her savior. The only thing he left behind was his gold necklace, with a mother and child on it and on the back was the number 16 with an 'M' inside the six. Star has worn that necklace ever since.
