His eyes sparked in the peculiar way that made you wonder if you knew more than he let on. They peered at Em down his half moon spectacles, a cheery and wry smile on his face.

"You're a wise witch Miss Emerald," He told her, Em catching a glimpse of a hidden smile on his face. "Much alike your mother- she too found love here at Hogwarts."

Emerald Whitby is a witch- a wave-your-wand, conjure rabbits, abracadabra kind of witch.

She just doesn't know it.

Despite living with her drowsy step-parents and their insufferable daughter (Em didn't believe the girl was quite human) the bright eyed girl was good and kind.

Though, her debuts in her room (the sometimes dusty, attic) are somewhat amusing, nothing truly interesting occurs in Emma's life.

Until the letter came.
