Two different people, living in the same world. Being the son of a mafia leader, had its differences. Wanting an ordinary life was out of the question. Once Oikawa takes his father's place, nothing would ever be the same for him. Along this path of life, he crosses some obstacles facing Shiratorizawa. As for Iwaizumi, he had a pretty ordinary life knowing Oikawa as kids. Seeing that Oikawa was going to be a different person as Boss, he knew that he had to be by his side at the end. Who says you can't inadvertently become an honorary member of your kindergarten bully's family while trying to get petty revenge on the same kindergarten bully? Oikawa Tooru certainly can after all.
