For years, Harumi had been plotting against the Ninja to resurrect her hero and avenge her parents' deaths. When she finally accomplished this task, however, she found herself crushed beneath a falling building and destined to live out the horrendous fate of every other villain in Ninjago.

The Departed Realm is a place of fire and demons, a place of constant screams and torture. Harumi finds herself in the company of the infamous Morro, who promises to help her outrun the fate of a second death. She begrudgingly accepts, and finds herself wrapped up in a destiny that is much bigger than her punishment in the Departed Realm. Harumi finds herself intertwined in the fate of all of Ninjago; the only key to saving the realm from its ultimate destruction.

But will Harumi find it in her heart to change her villainous ways and save the world? Or will her inability to take off her masks lead the destruction of everything she's ever known?
