Mona Sinclair is a former missionary turned 12th grade science teacher, who has high expectations for her first year at Word of Life Christian school. 

That is, until twenty minutes into her first class, on her first day, when she finds out half of her students don't believe in God. Here she was thinking her hardest days of ministry were behind her. 

While several students set her on edge, it's the raven haired rebel, Sloane Carter, that captures her heart. Through a series of dreams, The Lord convinces Mona to try to counsel Sloane, whose home life appears to be as bad as her attitude. 

After many failed attempts, Mona's meddling proves to be ineffective and pushes Sloane further away from redemption than ever. Then, Sloane disappears with a man she barely knows, destroying any hope Mona had left to change the direction of the girls life. So, Mona blames herself and wonders why God ever called her to the task. 

Will Mona be able to help Sloane turn her life around and heal her greatest wounds? Or will she have to leave Sloane to God and hope she did enough?
