Two flocks, divided by beliefs, merging only while bashing beautifully bloody beaks and clashing crooked claws, live upon a mediocre acre of rural neighborhood property. Most would take interest in a story just about the crazy yahoos that raise the chickens, but little does anyone know that each flock--each chicken--has their own story to tell...One simply has to watch (if this beakful doesn't ruffle your feathers, that is).
You may dodge the vile voracity, maniacal murder, or the epic epidemic of other tall tales, but you've been warned: don't judge a bird by her feather.

Thirty two. I was thirty two now and mateless. It wasn't so bad when my sisters had been with me. well except Robin. She had married at eighteen to a chosen mate, never admitting or denying if she had ever met her chosen one. She didn't count, she was content with her life. Lark, Raven and I had been the spinster sister's. Melody could draw mates together but ours never showed themselves. Not until a few years ago when Melody's only decent, brief, step brother Royal finished his university degree. His mother had moved into a good neighborhood in the city not long after her former husband Frank had died. Royal had spent a few years living free and wild before discovering an interest in civil engineering and planning. exactly the kind of person Raven had needed for her vast pack expansions. It was cute to look back at how nervous Melody had been to introduce Royal to the world of werewolves and magic. I wish I had of been in the diner when Melody and Alexander had met Louis. Royal's dragon mate. Melody aways showed her heart on her face, if you were quick enough. Girl was too polite by miles. I had instead been next to Raven in the drive when Royal and Louis had rode up to the pack house. Raven had known in an instant both were here. Raven had mated and claimed both of them in less than an hour. Louis claiming her return. Then there were two. Lark and me. Last month at Melody's monthly Lunar Luna party. I was there with Lark, both in our costumes Melody had made for us when she took my hand in hers. "Wren. He's here." she had dropped my hand. Alpha Elijah knew Lark was his. their Mating ceremony was the very next weekend. Then there was one. The old maid. Me.

The Hermits are back for Season 8 and some of them have been playing in a death game called 3rdLife. But the ending was a lot harder to cope with for one of them. Can Grian cope with the guilt slowly overtaking him? Will he be able to ever look Scar in the eyes again? Meanwhile, Scar seems his happy self. That slowly changes when his beloved pesky bird seems to avoid him. Aka, Grian doesn't want to make the same mistakes, but does. And Scar tries to figure out why things have changed. And somehow, they always end up back in the desert.
