As They Wish
My eyes narrow. "What do you want? If it's just to annoy me, I'd much rather go back to sleep." "Ah, ah, pet," he says. My breath hitches at the name. Pet. What happened to my actual name? He's the nice one. Playful grins matched with a wink here and there but that smile is absent as he moves his forefinger back and forth in a chastising manner. "You were given three days to settle in. Your bratty behavior will no longer be tolerated." I can't help how my hands travel back to the safety of my shirt. He snaps his fingers and points to the floor beside their feet. "Kneel." * I hated the new world. Years ago, vampires left the shadows to devour what little light humans had left to offer. They didn't want peace-they wanted power. When I was sixteen, the government and leaders of the old world were overthrown to make way for the new. My family, my future, my freedom...gone. I hated vampires.
