Soulmates. They're a Dream everyone has, but only a few have the luxury of making their dreams come true. The gods gifted the humans with a gift; a way to search for your soulmates, marks, designs, all the same, that would start off small, in the same spot, and only grow if you find your soulmate.
Still, humans were stubborn and fell in love with the people that they were not meant to be with, and later developed a hypothesis for removing their soulmate marks without resulting in death.
Seeing a mark that wasn't yours was a constant reminder to the humans that they could be replaced. So an underground organization began testing children, and slowly creating children born without soulmates, in the hope of them being born blank; no marks on their bodies.
Instead, they were covered in marks, head to toe, like artful strokes of black ink.
One girl, Tiama Achlys, is different. Her darkness reaches deep beyond the lines etched into her skin, and her secrets threaten the security of the facility, and her friends. Can she free them? Or will the one she's running from catch up to her before she can save the others?

The Girls with the Flame Tattoos
In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. Even though the black could do wonders, it was equally detestable.
