Alec is struggling. He got into the college of his dreams and only had half a year of high school left. He has friends, well, a friend and his sister. He is smart, talented, and not sure if he really wants to be here anymore.
Magnus is struggling. He got into death management and only has one solo gig left before he can move on from being a guardian angel. He knows the rule; give your charge what they want, don't connect, and leave.
Alec isn't a normal charge and this isn't a normal mission.

It's Friday the 13th. Magnus is late for work. Again because of his cat. He's locking up his apartment when he gets a phone call that he's been fired. I would write it differently today. Nevertheless I'll leave it as I wrote it then. A bit clumsy, a bit inexperienced. Because I remember how much I wanted this. This was the point where my mental healing began. That's where I realised that by writing Malec stories, I was not only giving myself, but also the rest of the community, a refuge from the anxieties of everyday life. However, I plan to re- write it again because the story excites me and I wonder how I would do it with my current knowledge. If that happens, the original will still be here.
