For Harlowe St. Clair, fate is a force to be reckoned with. Raised on the premise that everything happens for a reason, Harlowe believes that some things in life are predestined. Growing up with her single father, living paycheck to paycheck, barely affording to keep the lights on? Inevitable. Inheriting her mother's passion for dance? Written in the stars. Not having the money to attend the college of her dreams? A tragedy.

Harlowe was watching her life unfold before her eyes, wondering what it would be like if she was given a chance to re-write her destiny. Otherwise, she'd be stuck in her small town, working at the same dead end job, left wishing that she would've pursued her dreams. That is, until she meets Ryder Vaughn, who embodies the exact opposite of what Harlowe believes in. All but dripping in confidence and mysteriousness, Ryder is convinced that fate is supposed to be challenged, and that destiny is what you make of it.

Ryder has a plan, one that would alter everything about his own fate. A plan that could allow Harlowe to achieve her wildest dreams... if she dares to join him. If there is one thing Harlowe knows for sure, it is that trusting Ryder would either be her ticket to success, or lead to her greatest downfall.

''There is only one thing crossing my mind right now. If he hates me so much, then why the hell is he kissing me back?'' ----------------------- Emma White has always been kind of a loner. Her mother died giving birth to her and her father never really cared, always working in his successful company. That's why she decides to go to a college away from home, something she's been dreaming of since she can remember. However, what happens when at her very first day on campus, she crosses path with Noah Allen? He is rich, popular, cold, rude and a player just to start with. No surprise she calls him Mr. Grumpy. What is driving her insane though is that he's only too cold when it comes to her. After some not so pleasant moments and lots of glares, she tells herself that the best is to stay away from him, but it won't be that easy. After a disastrous kiss and hidden jealousy, she finds herself deeply involved into what is this frustrating boy. Add to that the fact that he is her roommates' childhood best friend and you can see drama from miles away. Noah claims to hate her ever since they met, and he doesn't mean her first day of college. He remembers her just fine from a couple of years ago and all the feelings are back. He knows she doesn't remember him and he'll use this as his leverage to do what he has to do. It's what he promised his father and himself, even if it means he has to pretend to care for her. All he cares is his family business. At least it's what he tells himself, until the feelings start getting too mixed and he ends up thinking of her more than he should. Maybe it's not all about business after all. He knows their history started before she even knows, what he didn't expect was for her to be so different from what he has always believed.

Jourdan Mathews has a secret, and she knows she needs to take this one to the grave. * * * Her life was never complicated: a college student with a close family, good friends, and a plan for her future as a doctor. Had that night had never happened, she might even have been called ordinary. But we're not made by ordinary moments. Now in her senior year, Jourdan is in freefall after a catalyzing summer that turned everything upside-down. Her friends know she's in trouble, and her parents hope they've done enough to save her, but Jourdan doesn't feel anything anymore. They say moving on happens slowly, but something needs to change fast before life moves on without her. Ryder Harris considers his life to be the farthest thing from "ordinary." He isn't just the kind-of-good basketball player that made him popular in high school. He is the kind-of-great that comes along once in a generation, a fact that has propelled him on a course which only attempts to reach for the stars. If you ask him, this isn't luck or special talent. No, Ryder Harris makes a point to focus himself, to remain undistracted. He's got priorities, and at the very top of his list is being drafted into the NBA. That dream is very close to becoming a reality his senior year, so close he can almost taste it. But the universe has a nasty habit of giving us what we need, not what we want. * * * part I - Jourdan & Ryder * * * Every Saint Needs a Sinner. Copyright. © May 2022. All Rights Reserved.

Harlowe didn't mean to fall in love with Zoe- but when does anyone ever mean to fall in love? Somewhere between the costumes, and the dances, and the little touches backstage, Harlowe had let herself slip. Zoe was an older girl, with her portrait in pink feathers and pearls stretch across the outside of the club, but she never bit her tongue. She told Harlowe she was pretty and talented- she told Harlowe she was special- and after long enough Harlowe started believing her. Zoe could convince Harlowe to do anything. That's how everything changed. * * * "Why did you leave Saturday?" Zoe asked suddenly, her voice still warm and sedated like her body in Harlowe's lap. Harlowe chewed her bottom lip. She didn't like lying, but she was good at half truths. "My mom was blowing up my phone. She grounded me." She watched Zoe's features twist into something unpleasant, and Harlowe ran a finger over her cheek in vain, trying to smooth her frown. "You're eighteen." Zoe reasoned. Harlowe shrugged though. "I'm also trying not to get kicked out." "That's not fun." Zoe hummed after a minute, closing her eyes to savour the feeling of Harlowe's fingers twisting through her hair and the rain splattering at their toes.
