Excerpts:

"There was a supernatural shade of blue in the dark night that engulfed the small village, and a faint tinge of moonlight only made it more mysterious. The eerie midnight stillness of Kalaghat was deafening, but was occasionally broken by the sounds of the animals, who seemed to warn unsuspecting visitors of impending danger. The old dilapidated haunted house looked strangely welcoming."

"She had lost her mind. She grabbed a plastic bag, stuffed all the dead remains inside, ran towards her car, and drove towards the abandoned junkyard. Heavy downpour and a dead baby in her backseat weren't strong enough reasons to stop her; she had to get rid of it at any cost. She didn't know what was scarier: the fact that the corpse did not stink for weeks, or the possibility that her daughter was influenced by spirits."

"Hey," I said cautiously, scared to make the first move. Thankfully, I didn't have to make it. Luca stepped forward and took me by the waist, pulling me close to him. A jealous snarl ripped from Anthony's chest. Did he just growl? What the hell's going on here?! Luca leaned closer to me, ignoring Anthony. "I'm not good with words like these. But you know that, Mavis." He smiled gently while his eyes filled with an emotion - love?- that caused butterflies in my stomach. A warm feeling surrounded my heart. Did it just speed up? "So, this is the only way I can describe it." He suddenly leaned his head down and captured my lips in a long kiss. It was gentle, yet harsh. He claimed my lips as his own, taking complete control. He made a possessive noise into the kiss. making my heart fill with affection. I was suddenly jerked from him and a second body wrapped around me possessively. It was Anthony. And he looked pissed. Mavis, a young teenage human girl, lived a life of normalcy with her five best friends. But when these men reveal their true forms and claim her as their mate, she realizes the world is filled with not just humans, but hidden supernaturals. And her five 'best friends' aren't as innocent as she thought. ---------------------- Note: This story was written by me originally a long time ago. I'm so sorry for all of the bad grammar and cringe-worthy scenes. It also goes a bit fast-paced, so I'm sorry about that! [completed] horror // paranormal // romance A witch girl tied to cursed demons and her dear puppet boy who kills them. ••• I traced the characters with a finger, my brows coming together with concentration as I read the curling black ink. It was a binding talisman - one of the many that had been strung across the door. And it had broken when the door had swung open. Dread seeped into my heart as I gasped out loud, a chill coming over me. I swallowed, breathing irregular, as I kept my eyes glued to the wooden floor. A shadow had crept up in front of me, belonging to the one thing that I had seen inside of the room just seconds before. The drummer boy lifted my chin up. When I met his eyes, I was paralyzed. The brown color was the same, but where that thin smile once was replaced by one that stretched wide, splitting his entire face in half. I stared at the sharp daggers of each tooth, legs quivering so violently I thought I would collapse onto the floor. "Hello, witch girl," the drummer boy purred, watching me with the eyes of a predator. "Thank you for freeing me." ••• cover by @scmimi note: This book contains themes of suicide, self-harm, bullying, religion, and superstition (particularly East Asian superstition).
