Circumstance

The dynamic of the world was screwed up. Omegas were sought after for babies but never seen as anything more by public society, they were the only ones who could successfully breed with alphas and alphas had some of the strongest genetics when it came to quirks. Betas made good sidekicks, rescue heroes, and some lesser heroes... but the current big-name heroes were all alphas. It was an alpha's world. Secondary genders ruled the world. Then there was the percentage who had soulmates, and soulmates made the combination of quirks stronger. Twenty-two percent of the world had a soulmate, the majority bearing identical marks to recognize each other when they met. The mark came when each mate turned eighteen, however sometimes marked mates were never meant to meet in their current life, sometimes they were mated to someone far older. Soulmates were those bonded together across lifetimes, they always ended up finding each other again and again, but sometimes they had to wait lifetimes to find that missing puzzle piece. Six percent of the world with a soulmate never got a mark, but they were lucky enough to always meet their mate, every life.

Kaori was someone who didn't have a soulmate, not that she minded. Being a vigilante, an omega, and someone with a past that haunted her every waking hour made her life hard enough as it was. She didn't have time for love, much less for instincts she couldn't control beyond her heat. But when she met that scarred man on the rooftop, with staples littering his skin, and eyes so dulled and yet deep; she had no idea just how much more complicated her life was going to become.
