Percy Jackson is a troubled 18 year old dealing with depression and an abusive step-father. He is failing his classes because he works every night to help make money for his family. He has been strong for so many years to keep his mother happy but he thinks he's running out of strength and uses alcohol to try to numb the pain in his heart.
Annabeth Chase has it all down, or so people think. She is at the top of her class at Goode High School. She has college locked down and plans to be an architect like her late mother Athena. Everyone in the school thinks her life is perfect but it is not. Her step mother Helen despises her and her father is not around very much, having to travel constantly for work. Annabeth is is struggling hard to keep the smile on her face but she believes that it is slowly fading away. One night Annabeth goes out to eat by herself and runs into a very depressed looking Percy Jackson. They become friends quickly through their similar pain. Will they be able to fix their broken souls or will they become another sob story?
