I feel my granddaughter's clenched grip around my wrinkly hand. It has been a long and joyful ride, I feel at peace, I can let go. I close my eyes as my heart beats for the last time.
Or so I thought.
A few seconds later I struggle to open my eyes in what feels like a sea of light.
"Alright, you're awake. Easy, take it slow, don't stand up just yet."

The Long Walk Home
IT lets go of me, my head hits the ground again, no sound echos this time. IT's mouth movies, but my ears ring, so I can't hear IT. Everything is blurry and movies too much. I can't focus on anything. IT looks at me, IT's eyes are all gray. IT smirks and stands all of the way up, towering over me. I pull myself up and wobble away from IT on unsteady feet. I look back to see IT laughing, watching me walk away. I can't hear her terrible laughter, and I don't want... to... I fall over, feeling woozy. My head spins and I sway as I try to stand. I look back again, to see that the fog has covered my path, and I can only see a couple of inches away from my face.
