'Peace is so elusive,' he says

'Just because the peace you strive for on the battlefield is oft so fleeting doesn't mean that peace of the mind is elusive, inquisitor,' the old man says

Born heir to the Angenet House, Jahen of Aquitaine is orphaned by the Black Death, forced into a harsh life from an early age. He braves the dire circumstances he finds himself in, choosing the life of a soldier.

Failing to find peace with his past, he pledges his life and sword to the Inquisition in an effort to make penance for his crimes. His exploits of hunting after heretics for the church bring him great renown, but his constant exposure to the great peril of the common people brings doubts about the nature of his calling. His misgivings become an opportunity for his enemies to ensnare him, leading to his excommunication.

Now on the other side of the inquisition, his journey of self-discovery leads him to unlikely allies and great mysteries. Will he find peace for himself, or will he bring peace to those around him at his own expense?

Cressida goes to a completely different place, one she has only heard in stories and read in books, with hopes of finding what her heart has always longed for. But love, mystery and secrets will chase her and it will only be a matter of time before she realizes what her heart truly desires. *This story is a standalone title in the Haverston Family series.
