I screamed, not even realising the force of it. Another loved one had died.

Rosalia Martinez, princess of Ethura, never had an easy life growing up. With her mother dying at a young age and her father who doesn't seem interested in her, she lives an abandoned life in her Kingdom. Rosalia always wanted to become a warrior, but when her older sister decides to host a Selection, all her freedom is taken away. No more hunting deer, no more fighting with the soldiers.
It is the moment she finds an old history book her life changes more than she could ever imagine. The unsolved mystery of a secret Kingdom and a cloaked woman haunts her. Not only in her dreams, but also in real life. As if she doesn't bring herself in enough trouble, a young man arrives at the castle, stealing her heart before she even realises.

Can forbidden love overcome danger? Or does she become the warrior she dreamed to be?

"I closed my eyes with a sigh. I could feel the darkness around me sucking me in deeper and deeper; suffocating me. I just want to end it all. All the voices, all the fear, all the rules. I want freedom. This can't be what my life is like. I need a change. I stood up from my place on my bed to move to my balcony. I could see the entire kingdom from here. But I knew I wasn't the one in charge. For some intolerable reason, I cannot rule over the world I've known for years. I grew up in the Kingdom of Alathia. I'm the princess for gods sake. But my father believes I am unfit to be a king since I am a women. So I have to marry. All my life he has told me what to do. Him and my mother!" Princess Maria is trapped in the destiny of being queen and being forced to marry a rising king whom she hates with every fiber of her being. She was taught to be the perfect wife was to be the perfect queen. Quiet. Submissive. Loyal. Innocent. While trying to accept her future, she is faced with unholy nightmares, a test of dignity, and a double life to have even the slightest chance of freedom. Would she be able to create her own destiny? Would she eventually have the freedom she longed for? Or would a thief ruin her chances completely by striking a deal and making her face a fate worst than the destiny she was born with? Adellia has grown up surrounded by rules and regulations. She's been prepped from birth to eventually reside in the throne that has been in her family for what feels like forever. Unfortunately, her destiny is quickly approaching. Her father is dead, and her mother has only a couple of months to live according to doctors. All eyes in the castle, and kingdom, turn to Adellia expecting her to step into her mother's shoes. However, both women aren't ready to give up their lives just yet. Wanting to learn more about her kingdom, and the people of it, before she is forced into an arranged marriage and the throne for the rest of her life, Adellia ventures out into the kingdom to do just that. While there, Adellia meets a young blacksmith by the name of Faron and gets sucked into a plot that goes against her, and her mother's wishes. Will she be able to venture into the unknown, and survive out of the watchful eye of the palace? This book has sexual reference and mentions of things that could possibly be triggering to some - e.g. young motherhood and loss of a parent. This work is usually split into two parts, but I have decided to take down the second part, and consider the first part, one book for now, so I can work on the second. When the second part/book has been finished, I'll decide whether I like it as one book or to reincorporate the rest of the book to make it one. Entered in the Wattys(2020)!
