The pack had grown distant towards Stilinski, knowing he needed the space for a normal life. The boy appreciated this and has been contemplating whether to leave or not. The pack would love to give him that freedom, and Scott wanted his bestfriend to live his life without worry nor any sort of relation towards the Supernatural. But he did not want to push him away, he did not want to lose his brother who stuck with him through thick and thin, but he might lose him in the process of his own selfishness if he continued to drag him into his life of the unnatural. In respect for his friend, he had planned to give him a choice. Stiles could either stay or leave and Scott would comply either way...he either has to let him go or let him suffer more.
