Suddenly there was a huge roar. I take a step back covering my ears, my head spins, it is so loud I can't hear myself think. I stand at the mouth of the cave that yawns wide open on the side of a cave. Its big, bigger than a mountain lion bigger than a bear. And I am about to walk into it's cave. But I HAVE to find out what it is. What if there IS a dragon? It will eat me for sure. but I keep going, I just need to make sure it doesn't see me. I walk to this opening as the path split in two edging me across the wall. I will be careful, silent, it will never know I was even here. There is a rocky cliff side and a drop. I look up from my thought and my eyes lock with gleaming golden eyes. I freeze every muscle in my body locks and I can't move. Towering taller than a building stands something I never thought could exist. A dragon. My heart pounded in my ears as my blood ran cold.

She is left alone at a cave in the middle of the night, until the headmaster of an orphanage finds her. He takes her to the orphanage where there is ten other dragonets who had also been found without parent that night. Cynder is raised alongside them, becoming friends with all of them. After five years, Kinhal decides that he cannot care for them anymore. But for what reason? He ships them off to a large city, leaves them behind and goes back to his old life. There are mysteries scattered everywhere, and when Cynder finds a cave filled with paintings, it's the last straw. The sketches on the wall aren't just anything. They mean something. Will they lead to a mysterious killer? Or even better, a chance to find their parents and lead a better life? Cynder doesn't know if the lost parents are alive or not, but either way she's going to find the enemy. And she's going to get revenge.

Monsters are everywhere, but the human ones are the worst. At least the Creatures of the Night don't kid almost families, friends, neighbors, coworkers. Once reborn they live in the night. Sure, they do all of the same twisted things that humans do to one another, but they don't hide who they are. When you see them you know death is coming. You can predict the sick things they will do to you. But when the monster looks human, you're blindsided. One minute you're in love with a guy and the next he's slitting your throat. Trust me, I speak from experience. Gruesome things that use to make me sick now makes my stomach flutter in joy. I traded charming grins and blue eyes for carved smilies and orbs of onyx. I traded sunlight for the glow of the moon. I gave up living amongst humans for creatures of the night. And I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. I am finally home. I've spent so much time running from monsters that it's my turn to do the chasing. Sweet Dreams...
