His vocal cords were far too damaged in the accident for him to speak, and his body was too shaky for him to sign properly. That very accident is what had killed his mother, and his grandfather's daughter. Igy didn't really remember much about what happened, all that he could remember about what had happened before the accident was that he and his mother were fighting about something. He also remembered that he didn't always look like a ghost, but rather had quite a bit of color in his face, and actually looked more human than he did nowadays.
