"I can't stop thinking of summer's end, the last summer with Henry."

Ansel Bennett is living up one last summer with his friends before they all go their separate ways. Hailing from a traditional town in Germany, not everyone in Ansel's group is as enamoured with the historic and frankly antiquated Quedlinburg and they seek escape into a modern world that is big enough to accept them. When Ansel uncovers a secret about his best friend and role model, Henry, it shatters the little serene pocket he had been living in and it's not long until he finds himself fleeing to his own paradise.

Mt. Fierté, a wintry academy locked away on the side of a mountain. Ansel accepts a music scholarship there in the hopes of pursuing his true calling as a DJ. More revelations threaten to shatter everything he knows and long-buried feelings for the same sex resurface when new roommate Oscar enters the fray. But Oscar has eyes for another and before he can properly deal with that, old wounds reopen, threatening to steal a life of chasing boys and performing for millions.

Music will take him to the stars. If he can only hold onto them a little longer.

Beneath his elusive shades, a forest lies.

The first novel in the 'Faded Stars' Duology.

"One of my favorite tropes is someone who believes they're hard to love and someone who loves them like it's breathing." TW: Mentions of suicide and abuse Forest Gray is what everyone would describe as a golden boy; perfect grades, the star of the football team, and a damn good friend. He is rich and good looking, he has it all. Except the one thing he's wanted his whole life; his parents love and acceptance. They are never home, yet they hold a protective barrier around him no matter what. They even own the school he goes to. Forest is to do and be who they say, and he's never been one to disobey or displease anyone, except for when he falls in love with the one boy who's able to break his parents spell. Atlas Hart is different from most people, because most people don't skip school and disappear for days or even weeks at a time. But most people don't have his intense emotions and outbursts of anger, or a broken family, or looked at as the outcast of the school. When Forest meets Atlas, he can't believe he's never noticed someone so perfect for him, and Atlas just can't believe someone like Forest is even talking to him. They fall helplessly in love, creating a bump in the plan Forest's parents laid out for his life before he was even born. Follows the struggles of falling in love with someone you're not supposed to and coming to terms with it while facing obstacles like family and friendship complications in which the characters have to overcome.

He Says He's Just A Friend

84 parts Complete Mature

Emmet and Clay did not meet on the best of terms, but that doesn't stop them from becoming fast friends. As their bond grows stronger, they will do whatever it takes to maintain this new friendship. Even though that may not be all that either of them wants. After years of living in a conservative southern town, Emmett has developed a hard shell that is not easily pierced. It's gotten even more difficult since breaking up with his first serious boyfriend left him feeling devastated and betrayed. Then a new friend comes along to peel back all the layers of protection, making Emmett feel happy again, and perhaps making him feel something more. The loss of his father at a young age left Clay with severe anxiety. His girlfriend says he's emotionally distant - because he is. Clay never gave much thought to his sexuality. He started dating because all his friends were, and although his relationships never seem to work out, he continues to try, because that's what's expected. The steady track he's been traveling is suddenly upended when he becomes enamored with a boy he just met. Now Clay has to figure out what he wants and how far he's willing to go to get it.
