Ashlie Quinn Orman has a terrible name. It's just a fact. He's not quite sure what his parents were thinking when they decided to name their male son Ashlie, but that's just how it happened. Embarrassing names aside, Ash lives a fairly normal life, his parents love each other (maybe a little too much) and his twin sisters are annoying, but harmless, or at least as harmless as two nine year olds can be. Ash thinks he's got everything figured out, even in his sophomore year it's clear he's on the path to graduate school early, as long as he can pass his damn math class. He plans to go to college somewhere on the east coast. Maybe in New York or Boston. He's got a fairly stable friend group. Everything makes sense. But nothing ever makes sense for long, especially when you're fifteen.
Fox Warren doesn't really have much going for him, he's got a shitty name with shitty parents and a shitty brain. The only consistent thing in his life is the fact that he's managed to get in trouble at almost every school he's gone to. So it's not like he's expecting much when he starts off his sophomore year of high school in yet another shitty school. He never planned to stay in school past his 18th birthday, but he'll be almost done with his senior year by then, so for now he'll just have to settle on Mill Creek high school or juvy, and he's decided that Mill Creek is the lesser of the two evils. So he makes a pact with himself. Don't get expelled within the next three years, and then haul ass to... somewhere, he's not quite sure, but he does have three years to figure out what happens next. That is, until Fox's dad makes a surprise and unwelcome appearance that upends his already chaotic life even more.
