Dan is sent to Kansas to spend time with his cousin Dorothy for the summer and when he gets there he sees that Dorothy is going to lose her dog Toto.

When Toto comes back Dan decides to leave with Dorothy.

But then a tornado comes and that makes them run back to the house and they end up getting sent somewhere else.
