Ciara is a quiet lonely girl who lost all of her friends when she lost her mom. No one talks to her. They all think she is a freak because barely any of them have even seen her face in two years because of the hair that falls over her face. Her brother has come back from college to haunt her and now the one thing she really wants to do is curl up in a corner and die.
Mickey is a boy who just wants to have some fun but rarely can because of the constant pressure from his mother and the fact that he can never actually keep any friends because of how much he and his mother travel. He meets Ciara at his new school where she nearly knocks him off his feet. Literally. He desperately wants nothing more than to fix her and possibly even open up himself.
However it is difficult for them to be friends because of their many heated arguments and a certain ex-girlfriend getting in the way. The one thing that keeps them going though? Their shared passion for music.

Mikayla is very unique, and like Jay, she doesn't seem to fit in with her contemporaries. Instead, the two of them keep each other company, and their friendship very quickly escalates into a romantic and intimate relationship. Despite having Mikayla, Jay's troubles continue to burden him. He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school. With everything seemingly piling up, Jay is very close to his breaking point, and late one night he is blindsided by the unthinkable, pushing him much too far and effectively planting in his mind a cruel and horrific plan for revenge.Complete
