Legolas has spent years avoiding the needs of his Kingdom, and the wishes of his father. If there's one thing he hates more than being used as a bargaining tool between his elders, it's being told he must get married to fulfil his Princely duties.
When Lord Elrond brings his daughters to the Woodlands by request of Thranduil, Legolas isn't expecting to be interested in anything he had on offer.
He was right, after all. Sîrneth was never supposed to be seen.
