Mid-2021, the United States are barren, most of civilization has been wiped out. The government had gone too far in the late year of 2020. The riots had gone too far. The government had been at a loss and decided to build machines that could finally stop the people and their destruction. Buildings, towns, families, had all been destroyed over the course of June and July. By August, many towns had been decimated by their cruel intentions. Major cities, Seattle, Washington D.C, New York, Dallas, Denver, have fallen and no longer exist. That's when the Government came in. They built massive guns, large bodies of metal to control the rampant people. The rest of the world has broken into war. Europe, Russia, and China are fighting over their economies and the poor countries in between are caught in the crossfire. Australia had burned, following the riots of June and July. South America died out as well, from starvation and dehydration. Even if the majority of the population has dropped from nearly eight billion (8,000,000,000) to barely one million, people are still living, trying to rebuilding what they once had. Machines still wander, killing whomever they run into. A boy and his dog run into one of these small societies. He's immediately hated by everyone in the society, but one of leaders take a chance on the boy, seeing as he's been surviving for the past ten months by himself and his dog. But when one of the members does the unthinkable, the boy loses trust in the whole group, even his newfound lover. ©️Piper Marie (harringrove-buddie) St~ 06/27/2020

Alone. Naked. Cold. Covered in blood that is just as likely to be mine as someone else's. I don't know who I am, where I am, or what I'm running from. All I get are flashes, snippets of dark shadows, sneering faces. Pain always follows these nightmares, these memories. I was found, taken in, but I have no way of knowing if I only escaped the frying pan just to jump into the fire. I don't understand these people, these wolves. They don't understand me, either. Our words mean nothing to each other, they're no more than sounds. We use gestures, facial expressions, body language like the beasts we seem to be. I can only pray these beasts are not the same ones I'm running from. -This story has depictions of violence, depression, panic attacks, gore.
