In honor of Pride I decided to post an excerpt of my upcoming novel 'Change of Heart'. Noa just wanted to teach his parents a lesson, but ended up tangled in a web of lies, confusion and with some of the best people he's ever met, including his new, fake boyfriend. This excerpt features snippets from Noa's first Pride, cut in such a way that it doesn't spoil too much of the actual chapter. The novel itself is still on the editing stage, so it will be a while still, but I wanted to post some bits from the Pride chapter, even if it's still a bit rough. If this should grab your attention, feel free to follow me @authorcarola on Twitter and Instagram for more updates as the book nears completion! (For the record, the character named 'Batman' in not affiliated with DC. It's just a fond nickname)

Lufi Muhamad, an insomniac college dropout with mild anxiety, opens up a Tattoo Parlor right across the street from a small Flower Shop. The day after opening, he finds a bouquet on the doorstep of his parlor. He looks across the street and sees a blue-eyed boy with dirty blonde hair opening the flower shop, and something within him stirs. Deimos Alexander, a hyper ADHD 20-year-old, was shocked when he realized that a new business had opened up across the street. He looked in the window and saw (In his best friend's words) an "Emo in the wild" tattooing someone. He makes a bouquet for him and places it on his porch step. He almost dropped his coffee the following day when he saw an oil pastel drawing on his welcome mat from the tattoo artist. Trigger Warning: While this book is a majority fluff there are a few angsty bits that face some grim topics including child abuse, dangerous parents, alcohol abuse, homophobia, transphobia, and harassment. This story includes quite a bit of swearing as well (blame my trucker dad for that) so viewer discretion is advised. No Smut whatsoever in this book. (I love y'all but I'm not putting my ace ass through that torture) If you have an idea for a cute date between characters, a friend group excursion, etc. please comment. I will either try to incorporate it in the story itself or make a oneshot book. NOTE: There is no specific schedule. While I will try and update once a week I am still in school and I'm both a part of the theater program and dance team so updates might be inconsistant.
