From the contest Write to Rank, a competition about action writing with challenges every week. This is my entry on the contest. Hope you enjoy it. Released : Part 1 -white belt : write a 100 words flash-fiction action about the realization of danger. The wordcount must be exactly 100 Part 2 -yellow belt : write a 500 words flash-fiction with the prompt "Dead or alive. You're coming with me." The wordcount max is 500 words Part 3 -orange belt : write an 800 words flash-fiction with dialogue between good and bad. The wordcount max is 800 words Part 4 -green belt : write a 1000-1500 words flash-fiction using the genres of action & thriller/horror. Must mostly contain active sentences and fast-paced. O Negative
Content Warning-This story is meant for mature audiences. It features adult language, references, situations, sexual content, graphic violence, and gore. Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my favorite genres to read. They are also my favorite to write. I've enjoyed writing since I won my first writing contest in the fourth grade. That was over twenty-five years ago and I haven't shared a sinlge word of it. Imposter syndrome is a bitch! Well, I finally managed to pull the trigger. Here is "O Negative". It's a mix of all of my favorite genres. I've mixed a fantasy, based on present-day Earth, with plenty of graphic horror and wrapped it all up within a world driven by the technological advancements that only can be obtained from millions of years of civilation. A small group of strangers find themselves surviving in a decimated world. It's bad enough to be stranded in a no-name town, but things become surreal when you realize the vast majority of humanity has died...it becomes terrifying when you realize you aren't that lucky to be alive. "Survivor's Guilt" isn't a thing when you find yourself the sole food source for an entire group of beings that no longer need to hide in the shadows. Man is no longer at the top of the food chain...they are now the cattle.
31 Days of Stories
This month (July 2024) I will write a short story/ one shot every day of the month. Some will be writing prompts from Pinterest, some may be fanfictions, and some will be short stories with the Bible. I don't know where this will end up. This is my challenge to myself to get better and more consistent at writing daily. Rules I will upload a part to a story every day. Some stories will be shorter than others and some may continue over multiple days, but I will upload everyday, no matter the quality. Consistency over perfection. Lily is a snow witch with powerful magic and a quick temper. Not the best combination. But she keeps to herself, and the few people she lets get close know she has a good heart, and that's enough for her. She doesn't need any drama in her life. Except she never knows what to expect from her next-door neighbor, who is a mad scientist. Then there's her meddling family back at the North Pole. Minor irritations, but they may or may not trigger her blizzard-inducing rage from time to time, resulting in out-of-season snowstorms, snowbound towns, and confused meteorologists worldwide. Good thing she has a fairy godmother. Or is it? When a forbidden paranormal romance brings secret magic and an unspoken curse to light, the weight of the world lands on Lily's shoulders.
