Iniwan ako ng nanay ko para sa ibang lalaki. At ang tatay ko? Lagi siyang wala. Abala sa trabaho, sa kumpanya, sa kung saan. Hindi niya alam na unti-unti na akong nawawala. Akala ko okay lang maging bastos, sumagot, maglayas, manakit. Akala ko normal lang maging ako-yung walang pakialam. Pero dumating siya. Tahimik. Palaging seryoso. Ayoko sa kanya nung una-masungit, preskong presidente ng school. Pero habang tumatagal, siya 'yung tanging tao na... pinagsabihan ako. Hinintay akong magbago. Tinuruan akong rumespeto. Unexpectedly Falling
Sabi nila lahat may karapatang maging masaya. We all deserve to be happy. Pero bakit ako parang hindi? Hindi ba ako kasama sa mga taong deserving? Masama ba ako sa past life ko? Kada araw dala-dala ko ang sakit ng nakaraan. Nakaraang wala pa lang katotohanan, siguro meron naman, pero 'yong pinaniniwalaan ko ay malayo sa totoong nangyari. Pero araw-araw akong umaasa. Umaasa ako.. Umasa ako.. Tapos dumating siya. Unexpected lahat sa totoo lang pero sa dulo? Hindi ko rin inaasahan ang sakit. Marami akong natutunan sa kanya.. Natutunan na dapat kong alalahanin kasi kung hindi, baka mauwi na naman sa sakit. Baka umasa na naman ako. At 'yon ang pinakamasakit. I've learned a lot from him to the point that he became a lesson. Dumating lang siya para matuto ako. Umalis siya kasi hindi ako 'yong babaeng gusto n'yang ilaban, hindi ako 'yon. Kasi ako 'yong babae na gusto na n'yang isuko. Ang unfair ng mundo, 'no? For the booksmart yet naïve 16-year-old Nicky, high school in her quaint little hometown island in the Philippines had always been predictable. Until that senior year. Nicky thought she got things all figured out. She'd be very good at school and be the valedictorian of the single-section class of 2010 of the highly looked-up science high school in their island. And then, she'd get a full scholarship to her dream university. All was fairly well except for a few things like grappling her feelings towards a long-time crush. Just when Nicky thought she could get through high school without too much boy-drama, a somewhat seemingly love life with a boy or two and suddenly, maybe even three was finally catching up with her during the last few months before high school graduation. She had never thought she could be wrong about a person. And that she could always be wrong about boys... ✨✨✨ Sidenote: I wrote this from November 2010 to April 2011, only a year ahead from the time set in the novel. This was fully uploaded on Wattpad in September 2013 for safekeeping. I hadn't gotten back to it in so many years nor find any means and time to promote it. Even the Sky Cries
They say sadness comes just before happiness, like how pain is followed by relief, and hardship by joy. Pero sa akin, parang laging nauuna ang saya... bago ito palitan ng kalungkutang mas masakit pa, mas mabigat pa, parang tatlong ulit ng sakit na akala mong tapos na. Baka naman, kalungkutan talaga ang bisperas ng luha. I give my all to the people I love, even if it means losing myself, like a candle slowly melting away. Pero naniniwala akong kahit ang tunaw na kandila, may silbi pa rin. Kung may handang magbuo ulit nito, to give it a new wick, so it can burn again and shine, then maybe I can too. Pero hindi ko kaya mag-isa. It's true-humans need humans too. But fate always seems to pass me by. Palagi akong umiiyak mag-isa. Unan lang ang kayakap at kumot naman ang pumupunas sa bawat luhang pumapatak. Only God and I know how much I've held in. And still, I wait... umaasa pa rin ako na balang araw, may darating na handang umupo sa tabi ko habang ako'y umiiyak, yung hindi basta-bastang aalis. I want to believe I'll experience the reward after all this pain. Na darating din ang panahon na mamahalin ako ng taong mananatili. I thought I found it. I thought it was him. But just like the rest, I waited, waited for the one who promised to stay... only to lose another soul I could never get back. Oh God... am I really meant to cry alone?
