The people of Lo huddled in their homes as the life-flames slowly faded away. Each day turned colder and colder as they were left to freeze in a dying realm. They had lost the war, after all.

Aeric, too, huddled in the arms of his mother, father, and brother. They watched as blue flames struggled to stay lit without the source of its power. This was all the proof they needed to know they had been abandoned.

Yet bitter acceptance soon turned into panic as the Tir arrived to finish what they started, and Aeric found himself running further and further from the flames to find his last piece of freedom.

But was it worth it in the end?
