Random story idea I thought of while listening to Colors by Halsey. 

Jennifer was an ordinary girl in the world of Colors. When she is assigned White, she's closely monitored until her 16th birthday. Oliver is her best friend who's madly in love with a certain brown haired girl. What shocks the doctors, the Color Leaders and even the Leader of Colors himself is something that's never happened before in the history of Colors. This will be a moderate length mini story for the two couples, exploring their journeys which happen at completely separate times. These are the untold stories of our side characters from my other book's shared universe, but reading those two books are not exactly necessary to enjoy this one. Either way, this is made for those who want to know more about these characters, so please enjoy.

They felt as that not being able to see color would stop civil unrest and discriminatory barriers, and by the time they met their soulmate people would be mature enough to make proper societal decisions. Linnea, the story's main character, believes her childhood best friend is her soulmate, but she soon learns that there are tricks to this color system. Sometimes, color can be falsely seen in faint hues and sometimes, the person you thought was your soulmate really isn't. When she meets Jade, she learns that perhaps your soulmate isn't exactly the person you imagined.
