Now that the Institute was destroyed she thought she and her mom, Nora the new general of the Minute men, could rest and rebuild but some old data suggest that the Institute had a fail safe, a facility out in Nevada near the ruins of Las Vegas. Mina decides to travel on her own in order to see if this was true, leaving behind her home and new family in order to ensure their future.
