In this story, Monty meets Winston earlier in his life. This prevents Monty from committing such violent and harmful acts, instead he learns how to love and feel. Winston guides Monty to a better future, a future they could share together. It's a beautiful romance, showing acceptance and growth but also pain and regret. A love story that could have been.
Winston could've saved Monty, he just walked into his life too late... but not in this story.
