Meg was always drawn to darkness. She always knew she wanted to become a criminal psychologist. Her early teens, were spent watching crime documentaries and  that's when she became interested in how the evil mind works. So when she got accepted into university, Meg thought she would be living a life she dreamed of, full of excitement and mystery. But nearing graduation, her professor assigns the class a case study on a notorious criminal, Mr Vanderwick. His crimes too heinous to even mention, the thirty-one year old has been locked away in a high security psychiatric hospital for a little over four months. 
The students are tasked with evaluating him and writing their own statements on his mental well being. Each get three visits in total. One every other month.

His sister Kelis finds someone in need of a roommate so he moves in with the girl and gives her his middle name, Lucas. He quickly becomes addicted to the girl and once he gets one taste he's done for. He warns her about his past, about his name, but she ignores all the red flags, not realizing exactly how intertwined she is with the people from his past. He becomes enamored with her, feels like she was made for him while still battling the demons of his past and soon it all becomes too much for him to handle. He makes a heartbreaking decision, thinking it's what's best for both of them and everything changes.
