The Aurum had been defeated once and for all, Pandora, the new ruler of the Underworld, decides to lighten up with her sinister ways and the world is truly brought to peace once more. As time moves on, Pit and Dark Pit fall into an even deeper love knowing that they are truly meant for each other. Nothing could go wrong in Skyworld or on Earth now that the gods are keeping the world in perfect balance.

...Right?

Life seems to be getting better after overall serenity is brought upon the world. Palutena and Viridi, past rivals as deities, continue their settled rivalry without disturbing the world's balance while Pit and Pittoo discover more about each other as their strong relationship advances. New friends are encountered as the paths are trailed upon, and old friends passed on are honored with love. The annual Smash Bros. tournament is always exhilarating and a great escape for all, and the lives waiting for everybody at home are filled with just as much excitement. So, what could possibly cause turmoil with all this normalcy?

After participating in the tournament, Pit and his friends gradually discover that his mind and perhaps his life seem to be in grave danger. Undergoing frequent night terrors, unusual anxiety and an unexpected dark side, everybody is skeptical over possession of his mind, whether it be true or not. It's later revealed that an old enemy makes their return. . .this time attached to Pit's mind. With little information known about this reincarnated foe, the heroes try to uncover the secrets behind this mental mystery and keep Pit's life secure with the small amount of knowledge they have.
