What do you do when you are given the chance to become King?

All that Kairos 'Kori' Jian had known since she was born was plant wheat, play in the fields with her little brother, and listen to her mother sing lullabies of a prosperous kingdom they once hailed from. All of that changed when her mother died in a mysterious accident that left little Kori suffering nightmares that seemed to have a figure watching her, waiting for her to close her eyes and descend into sleep.

She was an immigrant and a sinner, Kori thought, how is she to become a ruler of the kingdom who destroyed hers?

Set in a magical era where the Stars are Gods, a burning fight for the throne sparks competition among Kori's fellow King Candidates, wrestling with their lives for a taste of power and a crown on their head. Unbeknownst to the conflicted Kori, she has fallen deeper than she expected into the land of people blessed by Stars, and the darkness that dwells in the unseen.
