Jim Costello, a 10 year old middle-class catholic living on the Falls road in 1974 is in the middle of an ongoing war between the catholic IRA and the protestant UDA. His family believe that the war won't stop until the north is united with the south and living in the Falls that is expected because if you don't believe in a united Ireland in the falls you risk being shot or injured. Jim Costello and his friends take a trip to Shankhill and this trip will change their lives forever.

Told in journal entries and letters from Henry's sister Elizabeth, this reveals the realities and horrors of World War I, on the battlefield and in the homefront.
