Not only will they hate each other, they are put in the same dorm room for the whole year but they each carry the same heavy secret; they are each a half-breed (half animal, half human). 
Shelby is half fruit bat/vampire, abbie is half artic wolf, Victoria is half fox, Mia is half phoenix, Chelsea is half owl and kius is half panda.
They also each carry a bracelet from birth to death that shows what animal the person is. When they die the bracelet unlocks itself and chooses another person.
