Broken Promises is the story of Shari Lynn and her all-too short life. When her heart stopped in the womb due to a physician's error, it caused serious, lifelong medical issues. During her delivery her father felt that something was wrong but ignored that feeling. At the time he felt God was telling him to speak up, but he did not step up.

In the NICU, he heard a clear voice telling him that she would be okay, and he made that promise to her every day as he put her to bed. When she turned three, he became a single father and at the age of ten had to make the heartbreaking decision to withdraw care and let her pass. The book is a letter to her explaining what happened, his struggle with God over the events, what he feels was an unforgivable mistake by not speaking out during her birth, and his attempts to heal afterwards.

This is Part - 2 of a story that takes off from where it ended in The Birlas' - IKSHANA. It traces the life and journey of Dr.Abhimanyu Birla and his family through different situations that life forces on them. It's a story about healing, it's a story about trauma and different people react to trauma differently. It is a story about a single father and his parenting. It's about a family that has been through hell yet stuck to each other. This can be classified as a fanfiction also (Just for character names) but it can be read as a stand alone series, which has multiple books. Hence I marked it General Fiction. Secrets, promises, heart breaks and betrayals spice up this slow burn family drama which has its heart in the love, emotions and bonds shared by the family members. Their resilience and the will to put up a strong front to the world outside while addressing internal turmoil is the soul of the story. I have named the genre FanFiction only because of the character names. Otherwise, it's a stand-alone story.
