Broken Promises is the story of Shari Lynn and her all-too short life. When her heart stopped in the womb due to a physician's error, it caused serious, lifelong medical issues. During her delivery her father felt that something was wrong but ignored that feeling. At the time he felt God was telling him to speak up, but he did not step up. In the NICU, he heard a clear voice telling him that she would be okay, and he made that promise to her every day as he put her to bed. When she turned three, he became a single father and at the age of ten had to make the heartbreaking decision to withdraw care and let her pass. The book is a letter to her explaining what happened, his struggle with God over the events, what he feels was an unforgivable mistake by not speaking out during her birth, and his attempts to heal afterwards.

She was the forgotten daughter, the broken girl... until fate gave her one last story to tell. Adopted into a family that never truly loved her, Amelia's life was a constant storm of betrayal and loneliness. Just when she thought it couldn't get worse, the truth was revealed-she wasn't their real daughter. Then came the cruelest betrayal: a drugged drink, a violent setup, and a night that should've broken her... but led her into the arms of the man who once silently loved her. Four years later, she returns-quietly, with a little boy and a dying heart. But she carries more than a child. She carries goodbye. And when the truth unfolds-of the child, the illness, and her true identity-every life she touched is shattered. This is not a story about happy endings. This is a story about what's left behind when love comes too late.
