The fairy king, the ruler, and guardian of the fairy realm is said to be immune to the disease. He and his little sister are invulnerable to any type of illness that could be caused by plants.

However, that all changes when the fairy king finds himself coughing up pink gerbera daisies.

The Hanahaki disease is an illness born from unrequited love, where the victim's throat will fill up with flowers and they will then begin to throw and cough up petals (sometimes even whole flowers).

There are only two ways to cure the disease; it is if the person they love returns the feelings or it can be removed through surgery, though the feelings disappear along with the flowers.

If neither of the options is chosen or made, the victim's lungs will fill up with flowers and eventually suffocate them.

Killing them.
