After his town is raided by pirates, 17 year old Emilio is thrust from his home by the will of his mother and forced to join the crew. Struggling to cope with his mother's decision, he rejects their companionship for a long while. However, after fate ties him to the crew in ways he never could have imagined, he makes the decision to stay with them as a bizarre danger befalls upon them.
