At the end of the 27th century. Mankind has already made its way into space, and the super-large company Altera Inc. is setting sail for the spacecraft "Solars" carrying 97 advance teams in search of a planet suitable for the new human residence, because of growing population. The spacecraft approaches the 4546B. the oceanic planet it discovered during the exploration and attempts to land in orbit, but falls due to errors. The main character Artyom, who was aboard the spacecraft, managed to board the life pod. But soon he finds out that only HE survived on an alien planet, and begins exploration to escape the planet.
