Tis the season to be jolly. .. It's Christmas in Birmingham and Tammy, Ellie and Jas are in their final year at uni. Presents to be purchased, dissertations to be finished and families to visit. But for these three girls, such trivialities are the least of their worries. Tammy (English Language and Humanities) juggles a bar job, a degree and keeping tabs on her player boyfriend. Troubled by an unhappy past, Tammy has mixed feelings about her family Christmas. Jas is an idealistic Law student from a wealthy background hoping to use her degree for the greater good, but her ambitious father already has other plans for her ... Ellie (Sociology and Psychology) works part time as a carer for the elderly and is keeping a big secret from her family ... As Christmas approaches and life gets increasingly more complicated, chickens come home to roost and each of the girls has to face some uncomfortable truths about themselves, their lives and their families; and re-evaluate what Christmas - and family - really means

Beck is top of her class when it comes to Maths and Science and her future seems bright. However, she struggles with social anxiety and relationships. Beck is autistic and spends most of her life locked away in her own mind as she reads her collection of books to escape her abusive alcoholic father. But once her eyes meet a grey eyed boy from across the room her world won't be the same. (18+ violence, adult themes, bullying, harassment and other issues) Being Autistic myself I have put a lot of me in this book. I've exaggerated certain aspects for entertainment values but other than that this is how awkward I feel most of the time. I don't see many books by women who write about their experiences in a creative way to spread awareness in a fun and compassionate way. This is mine I guess. I hope you enjoy this short story.
