Eighteen-year-old Jessica has always felt the pull of the forest. Living at the edge of the forest of the wild, she's heard the warnings her whole life: never cross into the monster's side. But when danger strikes and she's forced beyond the border, she discovers a world far stranger-and more beautiful-than she ever imagined.
Wounded and alone, Jessica is saved by Zackariah, a mysterious guardian of the forest with eyes like a stormlight and a soul shaped by solitude. He is not entirely human... and not entirely monster. Bound to the Veilwood by ancient magic, Zackariah never expected to care for a human - let alone risk everything to save one.
As Jessica heals in the hidden sanctuary of the wood elves, she and Zackariah find themselves drawn together by a bond neither can explain... and a love that defies the rules of both their worlds. But with danger closing in, and old powers stirring in the trees, their connection may not be enough.
To stay together, they'll have to choose: the safety of what they've always known... or the wild, uncertain path of the heart.
