Percy is an actor and Will's dad is his producer. Thalia is Percy's cousin and Reyna is her best friend. Rachel and Percy met at an event. Percy met Piper on the set of a movie they were both in. Piper is also a singer. Piper met Leo while being a hoodlum in middle school. Thalia's brother Jason was Piper's soulmate. Jason and his mom died in a car crash that Thalia barely survived.

Hazel and Nico are half siblings. Hazel's mom was a speleologist who died in a cave collapse. Nico's mom died in a tornado when she was ripped out of her car and impaled on a metal pole. To add insult to injury the pole was struck by lightning and her body was burned. Their dad, the rich owner of a banking company, took them in. they met the rest of them in school

When Annabeth was 14 she moved to NY just before Freshman year at Goode. There she met Raven and they bonded over their love of literature (despite their opposite aesthetics, Raven being emo and Annabeth having a more pastel aesthetic), and Raven introduced her to Thalia. The next year they took Nico under their wing when they found him being bullied in an abandoned hallway. They became friends with Travis and Conner in Junior year after getting revenge on them for a prank.

Frank and Hazel met on their first day of school, freshman year, when they ran into each other (literally) going to their lockers. They became friends and then started dating a month later. Hazel met Katie, Rachel, and Calypso in an art course during the second term.
