Gardena, California. 2265. One hundred and seventeen years ago, Gardena, along with several other cities, is put on a "temporary" lockdown due to a rebellion that left thousands dead and even more missing. That's what's written in the history books, at least. No one is completely sure what happened. The mass majority of the city chose to go along with it, but occasionally, a few people go looking for answers. Those answers are seldom found, and the punishments for seeking out such answers tend to be severe. The people of Gardena try go about their days with as much normalcy as possible, but that's hard when there's military stationed at almost every corner.
Violet is only eighteen years old already singlehandedly leading a gang. Renae, her ex-best friend prefers to play things safe. And Harley, whose sudden appearance in the city has raised questions from a few, is overly inquisitive and passionate about everything she does.
Drawn and bound together by the inexplicable need for liberation, these three girls unintentionally push the boundaries when they come across a breach in system; allowing them to temporarily withdraw from the constant chaos that surrounds their adolescent lives. But when lies and a sudden betrayal begin to challenge what they thought they stood for, the three girls begin to lose sight of themselves, and they each are left wondering if the fate that brought them together plans on pulling them apart just as fast.
Ara, the only woman left alive after a plague, is searching for a way to save humanity. She thinks there isn't a man she can trust, until she meets Kaden.
*****
A plague has swept over the Earth, killing the majority of the population and every female. Except one. Ara witnessed the horror and destruction, but for the last three years she has survived. Now, desperation and hunger force her out of the mountains and onto a dangerous path; across the flooded downtown and through the gangs of survivors is hope. Ara's father spoke of a clue that could save not just her, but humanity. Then she is captured by a group of men. Despite the seeming kindness of Kaden, a young man her own age, Ara doesn't know if she can trust them. Then again, there's no way she can cross the plague-ridden city on her own. Men. Monsters. Is there a difference? This is the story of The Last She.
